Soft spot in the deck

Hello,

I have a Wauquiez Gladiateur of 78. Unfortunately at one point the deck became soft. There water will have penetrated. Maybe at the railing supports. Before I open the deck I would like to know which material was used in the sandwich, which foam or which wood? The area is in the foredeck. Above the bow cabin, around the attachment of the baby day, delamination can also be observed, but the area is still dry.
Is there a general problem with the deck known to gladiators?

Thank you

max

Bonjour,

FYI, David answered me. It is in fact a sandwich construction with balsa as core

David m'a répondu.

Thanks max for the prompt reply. He'd told me it was laminated when I replaced the chainplates (precaution). When I see him I enquire more precisely. My foredeck isn't becoming soft but it makes sometimes a cracking sound around the electrical windlass, probably resulting from the forces induced when heaving anchor. My baby stay is not tighten, just taut but it shows little cracks around its attachment and around the after lower shrouds chainplates. Besides in one spots (middle of the port sidedeck 1st stanchion forward) it seems that resin is pouring out of the laminated. It occurred on stbd as well (symetric 1st stanchion frwd) and I cured it with epoxy 6 years ago, successfully. Let's keep a sharp lookout and mend it piecemeal if need be. Cheers.
